Met Eireann’s forecast for Thursday and Friday shows the last of the sunshine in parts of the country as heavy rain looks set to take hold this weekend.
This morning is set to be dry and calm however it’s likely going to be very overcast for many, with the best sunny spells will be seen in the east.
It’ll brighten up later today with most counties experiencing some clearer weather by the evening time, and highest temperatures will be between 16 and 20 degrees.
The cloudy conditions will then continue into Friday with a few showers expected.
A few bright sunny spells may also appear throughout the day, mainly along the east coast with highest temperatures of 20C.
It’ll be largely dry on Friday night but a few patches of mist and drizzle will begin to move in and set the tone for the weekend ahead.
Saturday will begin with plenty of clouds across the country and a few showers moving in - temperatures however will remain high at around 17-21C.

Things will dry up then on Saturday night for most, but there will be rain developing in the southwest heading into Sunday morning.
It’s due to become quite breezy as southeast winds freshen with temperatures dropping to between 12 and 15 degrees.
Things are then due to turn rather wet across the south and west of the country on Sunday as a spell of rain moves in from the Atlantic.
Northern and eastern counties may hold dry until later in the day, however, outbreaks of rain are expected to extend to most of the country on Sunday night.
According to Met Eireann, “Early indications suggest it will turn rather unsettled next week with spells of rain and blustery winds.”
