Ireland's wet and windy weather is to be replaced by unseasonably wintry conditions in the next 24 hours.
Temperatures will drop below freezing overnight as the colder air moves in on Monday evening.
Today has been a washout for large parts of the country, however, it won't be quite as wet as the week develops.
An active low-pressure system has resulted in the spell of unseasonably wet and windy weather.
Met Éireann forecaster, Andrew Doran-Sherlock, said: “Monday will start wet and blustery across Ireland with unseasonably strong winds developing quite widely, along with the potential for gale or near gale force winds across coastal areas. There may also be a risk of localised flooding in areas expected to see the heaviest and most persistent rain, particularly across Atlantic and northern counties.
“The low-pressure system will clear eastwards away from Ireland later on Monday, with a northerly airflow re-establishing across Ireland. This will keep temperatures below average next week, around 8 to 12 degrees Celsius and it’ll stay on the unsettled side too.”
The majority of the week is set to be cool with showers and sunny spells. However, a risk of frost is prevalent over the coming week too.
Here's what's in store according to Met Eireann;
Tonight
Clear spells with a few occasional showers are expected, the rainfall will become less frequent overnight.
Tuesday morning and afternoon
A cool blustery start to the day with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers.
However, some of the showers will be heavy with the risk of hail and thunderstorms.
Tuesday night
Showers will be mainly focused in the north and west on Tuesday night with clear spells developing elsewhere.
Stay warm because the temperature is expected to range between -1 to +2 degrees, with a touch of frost developing.
Wednesday morning and afternoon
Another cool and sunny start to the day is on the horizon with some scattered showers in places.
However, these showers will be heavy at times with the risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms. The worst of the conditions are set to arrive over the northern half of the country where some showers may fall as sleet over high ground in the north and east.
The temperature will be coldest in Ulster.
Wednesday night
A very cold evening is expected with lows of -3 to +1 degrees, with frost developing.
Thursday morning and afternoon
Cool conditions with sunny spells will start the day.
There will be a few scattered showers, but less than the previous days with a lot of dry weather generally.
Thursday night
Another cold evening is in store with some frost and lows of between -2 and +2 degrees.
Friday morning and afternoon
The morning will be mostly dry with some sunny spells. Cloud will increase through the day though with the likelihood of some rain moving into the southwest after dark.

Friday night
As the weekend approaches, the rain will spread northwards to all areas with lows of 2 to 6 degrees expected.
Saturday
The rain will clear northeastwards with showers and sunny spells developing. A milder day is anticipated with highs of 13 to 16 degrees.
