Met Eireann forecast drizzle and drop in temperatures as weather warnings in place for next week

A dreary start is forecast for next week as Met Eireann have put a Status Yellow fog warning in place from Sunday night until Monday morning.

From 01:00 to 11:00 Monday morning, meteorologists have warned that dense fog will lead to poor visibility, especially in the midlands.

Sunday night will stay mostly dry with clear spells as temperatures plummet to as low as 3 degrees in parts.

Fog will be dense in places by dawn.

Monday:

The fog should clear through Monday morning, leading to a mostly dry day with some sunny spells.

Cloudier in the northern half of the country with some drizzle across Ulster. Highs of 13 to 15 degrees.

Monday night brings patchy rain particularly in cloud-covered Ulster but it will be dry further south with clear spells.

The lowest temperatures on Monday night of 4 to 9 degrees with the coldest temperatures forecast for the south of the country.

Mist and fog again will last until early on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday

Most areas will stay dry on Tuesday but it will be a cloudier day with some light rain or drizzle in parts of Ulster, extending into north Leinster.

The best of brighter weather will be in southern counties. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees.

It will be dry on Tuesday night, apart from a little drizzle in the far north. There will be a mix of cloud and clear spells, clearest in the south. Some mist and fog patches forming which will be dense in places. Lows of 4 to 9 degrees.

Wednesday

Met Eireann say that Wednesday will see early mist and fog clearing to give a mix of cloud and some bright or sunny spells.

It will be dry for much of the country with just passing showers along northern and northwestern coasts.

Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in light west to southwest breezes.

Thursday

Much of Thursday looks like it will be mostly cloudy but dry in many areas apart from patchy light rain or drizzle, mainly in the west and north.

On Thursday night patchy rain will likely affect northern areas.

Friday

Patchy rain showers are forecast to die out on Friday with some brighter spells developing after a dull start to the weekend.

Current indications suggest that there will be light rain at times over the weekend with dry periods too.
