Met Eireann forecast dramatic temperature plunge amid ‘uncertainty’ over Ireland Christmas weather

Ireland can expect a dramatic temperature plunge in the coming days, while “uncertainty” remains over the Christmas weather forecast.

The country has been enjoying unseasonably mild conditions, with temperatures reaching highs of up to 13C.

However it won’t last for long, as the mercury is set to plummet after Christmas day.

Highs of just 3C are forecast for parts of the country on St Stephen’s Day.

It comes amid uncertainty about the weather for Christmas weekend.

Met Eireann said: “There remains some uncertainty in the forecast for Christmas weekend.

“Current indications suggest that more rain will spread across the country from the southwest on Christmas Eve night.

“However, with Rudolph's help, Santa will have no problem making his way through the rain.”

Looking towards the end of the year, the national forecast said: “Changeable through the final week of 2021.

“Currently it looks like a dry and cold start to the week but further spells of rain and some breezy later in the week.”
