Met Eireann five-day weather forecast: Temperature plummet days away as winter chill to hit

Ireland is facing into a mixed week with some freezing nights but plenty of dry weather too.

Met Eireann are forecasting temperatures to be as low as 1C midweek with ground frost in places.

Here's a look at Met Eireann's five day weather forecast so you can plan your week accordingly;

Monday

Tomorrow, Monday, rain on eastern coasts will clear during the morning. After a cloudy start, sunny spells and scattered showers will develop, with showers most frequent in the north and west. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees, warmest in the south, with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds.

Monday night: Showery outbreaks of rain will occur, most frequent in the northwest and west and of the country. Some clearer spells and a few mist patches developing also. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees, in light to moderate northwesterly winds that will be strong and gusty along Atlantic coasts.

Tuesday

Tuesday: Showery outbreaks of rain in the west and northwest will ease during the morning to leave a mostly dry day with sunny spells. However, a few isolated showers are likely to develop in the afternoon along east and northeast coasts. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees with moderate to fresh north to northeast winds that will be strong and gusty at times along coasts.

Tuesday night: Cold and mostly dry with clear spells in west and southwest of the country. However, it will be cloudier along eastern coasts with a few isolated showers. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees, mildest in the east. There is a risk of some grass frost, especially in the southwest.

Wednesday
 

Mostly dry with good sunny spells in most areas. However, there is the chance of few scattered showers along east and northeast coasts. Highest temperatures of 13 to 14 degrees, in light to moderate northeasterly breezes.

Wednesday Night: It will be a cold and dry night with mist and fog patches developing. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees, in mostly light variable breezes. It will be coldest in the east of the country with some grass frost developing. Cloud will thicken in the west towards morning.

Thursday

Mostly dry through the day, starting with some good sunny spells, cloud will increase from the southwest as the day progresses. Patchy rain or drizzle will develop along southern and western coasts by evening time. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in light to moderate southeast winds.

Thursday night: Mostly cloudy with a slow moving band of rain likely to persist along Atlantic coastal counties. Elsewhere mostly dry with some clear spells, best in east Ulster and Leinster. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees with light to moderate southeast winds that will strong and gusty along Atlantic coasts.

Friday

Rain is likely to persist along Atlantic coastal counties. Mostly dry conditions with some bright or sunny spells developing elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in mostly moderate easterly breezes, fresh to strong and gusty along the Munster coastline.
