Met Eireann extends weather warning for snow and ice in Dublin and rest of Ireland

Met Eireann have extended their yellow weather warning for snow and ice across Ireland.

The warning, which was due to end at 11am this morning, is now in place until 10am on Monday morning.

It continues as wintry showers are expected across Dublin throughout the day.

Snow is expected in areas of higher ground, with reports of snowfall across areas in or close to the Dublin Mountains yesterday.

The weather warning says: "Scattered wintry showers of hail, sleet and snow with some accumulations, especially on higher ground, and icy stretches on roads and footpaths."

It's going to be a cold couple of days in Dublin, where temperatures are expected to range between 4C and 6C degrees.

The forecast for today says: "A cold and frosty start with some icy patches. Dry and clear at first, a few showers will develop this afternoon with some of the showers wintry, mainly over the high hills. Highest temperatures will range from 4 to 6 degrees. After a breezy start winds will become light, mainly southerly in direction."
