Met Eireann Dublin Weather: Sunny spells gone already as experts forecast of miserable u-turn for Ireland

Dublin is in for a wet week according to Met Eireann who've warned showers could turn heavy later today.

Last week the capital was given its first real taste of 2019 sunshine getting revellers hopes up it might we were in for a mini Spring heatwave.

Unfortunately it's not to be as we're in for scattered showers throughout the day with some potentially getting heavy.

Met Eireann said: "Today will have some dry spells, but it will be mostly cloudy, with scattered showers. A few of the showers may turn heavy, especially in the afternoon and early evening.

"More persistent rain and drizzle will develop for a time in the late evening or early night. Maximum temperatures 10 to 12 Celsius, in light to moderate southerly winds, veering southwesterly."

Tonight will also see a temperature drop with "a risk of frost".

"Tonight will be mainly dry, with clear intervals developing. Turning cold, with light to moderate west to northwest winds. Minimum temperatures 0 to 2 Celsius, with a risk of frost."

Some good news is tomorrow may see some rays throughout the day - but again it'll only be limited before we get hit with potential hail and thundery downpours.

"Tuesday morning will be mainly dry, with sunny spells, but scattered showers will develop during the day, some of them heavy and possibly of hail, with a risk of thundery downpours. Some wintry showers of sleet are possible also, especially over high ground, but possibly at lower levels also.

"There is a risk of snow over mountains. Maximum temperatures 6 to 8 Celsius, in moderate to fresh west to northwest winds, gusty in showers."
