Met Eireann confirms 'tropical airmass' will bless Ireland with stunning weather as best day pinpointed

Met Eireann has confirmed that the stunning weather we've seen over the last 10 days or so is set to continue, with a "tropical airmass" settling over Ireland.

Thousands of people celebrated outdoors over the Bank Holiday weekend as temperatures topped 21C.

And that's set to continue as we head towards the middle of the month - with a scorching week in store thanks to the new airmass.

Met Eireann say: "It'll feel quite humid this week as a tropical maritime airmass becomes established over Ireland. This airmass will bring a good deal of cloud & moisture, but where the sun breaks through it'll feel warm."

However, those of you struggling to sleep with the heat will continue to do so, as the forecaster says there'll be some "muggy" nights ahead.

A Met Eireann forecaster added: "Tonight will be a rather cloudy night with patchy rain and drizzle turning heavy and persistent at times, particularly in the north of the country. Lowest temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees with light to moderate southerly winds.

"Tomorrow, Wednesday, rain and drizzle will turn patchy through the day with sunshine gradually breaking through. Cloudier conditions will persist across west and northwest counties, with lingering mist and drizzle at the coast. Warm and humid, with temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees, a little cooler along western and southern coasts, in moderate southerly breezes.

"Wednesday night will be cloudy with rain around the south and west coasts, it will be largely dry elsewhere. Another humid and rather warm night with lowest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees, in moderate southerly breezes."

And experts said conditions are set to stay mild for the rest of the week with occasional rain but that it will stay dry in the east, and a warm and settled weekend is on the cards.
