Met Eireann’s forecast may indicate a total washout this weekend, but conditions are set to improve tenfold into next week.
From Monday, conditions will begin to dry, with 25C heat expected along the west coast on Tuesday - which is likely to set the tone for the days following.
As for today, it's due to start off cloudy with mist and fog clearing as the morning goes on.
There will be some occasional sunny spells developing throughout the day, the best of which will be seen in the northeast.
It will remain mainly dry with a chance of a few light passing showers, and highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in light to moderate east or southeast winds.
The worst of the rainy conditions are predicted for the northwest.
Saturday will once again be a largely dry day with best of the sunny spells in the southwest, however, there's a much greater chance of a shower in the northeast, southeast, and midlands while highest temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees are expected in light south or southeast winds.
Conditions then take a turn for the worse on Sunday, becoming rather wet across the south and west of the country as a spell of rainy weather approaches.
Northern and eastern counties are expected to stay largely dry until later in the day - however, it looks as if the entire country is in for some showers.

It will feel warmer, "despite the freshening wind and rain" as afternoon temperatures are due to remain up around 18 to 21 degrees in fresh southerly winds.
Heading into next week then, sunnier weather is on the way, with temperatures likely to move into the twenties across the country - and won’t fall below 16 or 17 degrees at night.
The warmest weather will be felt in the south, midlands and east on Monday.
Tuesday then looks to see the development of heatwave conditions with 25 degrees expected across the West of the country, 24C in the midlands, and 23C in the north and south - coolest conditions will be felt in the east and southeast, but temperatures will not drop below 19C.
According to the Irish forecaster; “Current indications suggest this warmer weather will stay with us through to midweek next week with warm nights too.
“There'll be rain at times but some sunny spells also.”
