Met Eireann blustery weather forecast as height of hurricane season to peak in September

Met Eireann has provided an update on the type of weather we can expect for the first couple of weeks of September.

While August looks set to provide a final flourish of warm weather in the days and weeks ahead, September is looking murkier on that front.

That's because the weather predictions get far more difficult as the hurricane season in the Atlantic reaches its peak during the month of September.

From Monday, August 30 until September 5, the forecast is as follows:

"Confidence becomes very low in the prevailing weather patterns as we head into early September with no strong signal towards high or low pressure."

"This is a typical scenario given the time of year with the height of the hurricane season in the Atlantic creating increased uncertainties in predictions for northwest Europe."

"Rainfall and temperature signals for this period are mostly muted or neutral with no strong signal evident either way."

The second week of September, the forecast is: "Confidence remains very low in prevailing weather patterns for week 4 for reasons stated above in Week 3.

"Again, rainfall and temperature signals for this period are neutral."

But what about August? It looks like that in the final week, people can expect a real blast of summer heat.

Carlow Weather said on Twitter: "Want some Friday night fun? Here are the last charts from latest ECMWF weather model run.

"10 days away so chances of them being accurate are very slim but they show a blast of real heat coming up towards Ireland on 23rd of Month.

"Remember, just fun but summer ain’t over yet."

Tomorrow (Sunday) will be cloudy and misty for some time with scattered outbreaks of mostly light rain and drizzle.

It will gradually improve though, with a clearance to drier and brighter weather with some sunshine, extending from the northwest through the afternoon.

Temperatures will be of 17C to 19C.
