'Mesut's greatest assist!' - Arsenal fans react to Ozil's surprise role in Partey transfer deal

Arsenal supporters are getting very creative in their attempts to persuade Thomas Partey to make a summer move.

The last month or so has been dominated by rumours of the Ghana international making the move to the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season in what would be a statement of intent by the Gunners.

And many fans are keen to see Partey line up in Mikel Arteta's midfield next season,

So much so that supporters in Ghana have visited Partey's family recently to gift them an Arsenal top and handed them a message welcoming the news of his rumored potential transfer to the Gunners.

Present were a number of supporters in Ozil tops and it has been revealed they were members of the Germany international's football club.

In fact, Mundo Deportivo claim they were in attendance with the Oiri Football Club which is one of the Partey fan clubs.

Interestingly, Ozil tweeted about this event late last year.

As expected, Arsenal fans are getting excited about a surprise and albeit inadvertent role Ozil could play in luring Partey to the Emirates Stadium.

La Liga expert Graham Hunter - thinks Mikel Arteta's playing career as a holding midfielder could be key to Arsenal's chances of winning the race for Partey.

"Partey speaks decent English, so that wouldn't be an obstacle from him were he to go to the Premier League," Hunter told Sky Sports. "He's still at an age where the pace and the physicality of the Premier League wouldn't be beyond him.

"He's not the quickest, but he's an athlete that keeps going.

"I don't imagine for a second that he grew up idolising Mikel Arteta, but because of the amount of English football that's shown in Ghana, and because of the role that Arteta played as a midfielder in the Premier League.

"I'm sure Partey will feel he would be working for a coach who would be able to educate him still further in the arts of organising the centre of midfield."
