Mesut Ozil 'will only move to one of two countries' as he steps up Arsenal exit plan

Mesut Ozil only has plans to move to one of two countries once he leaves Arsenal behind.

The German international has just a year remaining on his mega £350,000-per-week contract at The Emirates, with no expectation of a new deal.

Despite Arsenal's hopes of offloading the 31-year-old this summer, Ozil has no plans to move on before his contract expires.

However he already has his sights set on a switch to either Turkey or America, which are the only two places he wants to go to, according to The Sun.

Fenerbahce have long shown an interest in Ozil, who has Turkish roots, but have been unable to afford his transfer.

Ozil would not be able to command a similar salary to what he is on at Arsenal once he departs next year, which could make a switch to Fenerbahce more plausible.

He has also attracted potential suitors from Major League Soccer (MLS) in the past, with DC United continually linked with his signature.

A move to the States would suit Ozil, who would be a star performer over the pond and would represent a real marquee signing for any club who can land his services.

In any event, it seems as if he is being increasingly frozen out at Arsenal despite Mikel Arteta's previous comments suggesting Ozil has a big part to play at the club.

Arteta said prior to the win at Wolves at the weekend: “There is always a place for a player of his quality.

“Players can adapt to different systems and we can adapt those systems for different players.

“Sometimes it is not just about what we want to play or how we want to play.

“We have to try to field the players that we have available in the right moments, in the right positions, to perform and be comfortable on the pitch to do what we require them to do.”

But Arteta has not picked the playmaker in the last three squads, as The Gunners have shown improved form and results on the pitch.

The club claim he has been suffering from a back injury, but prior to that Ozil was an unused substitute in three fixtures, and is still yet to make an appearance since the restart.
