Mesut Ozil told there is "no chance" he will play for Arsenal again

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has stated his strong belief that Mesut Ozil will never play for the club again.

The German playmaker has been effectively frozen out by manager Mikel Arteta, and has not featured for the Gunners since March.

He has been left out of the Europa League squad for the group stages of the tournament, and has yet to even make the bench in the Premier League so far this season.

Some have suggested Ozil could yet return at some stage given the hectic nature of the fixtures this season.

But speaking to GentingBet Campbell insisted there is no way back for the player at the Emirates.

“Mesut Ozil is yesterday’s news at the club,” Campbell said.

“There is no chance that he will feature for Arsenal again this season, or ever again.

“There have been certain things that have gone on, instances where he has gone against the club, so I don’t see where there is any room for him to come back.”

Another man who has yet to play a minute for Arsenal this season is young French centre-back William Saliba.

Supporters have been left disappointed by the lack of action for the highly-rated 19-year-old, but Campbell has called for patience, and thinks the defender will still come good.

“Mikel Arteta needs to assess where William Saliba is in terms of his development,” Campbell continued.

“It wouldn’t be considered a blow to Arsenal if he does go on loan to the Championship if Arteta thinks that is what is best for him.

“He’s played a season or two for Saint-Etienne but he is still a very young man.

“If it was up to me, I would keep him at the football club, let him pick up some minutes here and there and get him up to speed but as we know, nothing beats playing games.”
