Mesut Ozil to miss Arsenal's FA Cup Final clash against Chelsea after travelling to Turkey

Mesut Ozil will play no part for Arsenal in Saturday's FA Cup Final clash against Chelsea at Wembley.

The German playmaker has fallen out of favour in north London amid speculation over a summer exit and has yet to make a single appearance under Mikel Arteta since last month's football restart.

10 players outside of Arsenal's 20-man matchday squad are permitted to attend the final, but Ozil will not be present at all.

That is because Standard Sport understands that the 31-year-old is currently in Turkey and unavailable for Saturday's contest.

The reasons behind Ozil's trip are currently unclear, but Arsenal gave their permission for him to go.

Ozil currently has less than 12 months left to run on his £350,000-a-week contract and has been linked with a move to Turkish football, with the likes of Fenerbahce said to hold an interest in his services.

However, the player's agent - Erkut Sogut - said earlier this week that his client will not be leaving Arsenal this summer.

"I do not think there will be a change in the case of Mesut Ozil until the summer of 2021," he said.

“He has a contract. There is no change. He will remain in Arsenal.”
