Mesut Ozil sends timely message to Arsene Wenger following another Unai Emery snub

Arsenal's defeat to Sheffield United was a bitter pill to swallow.

A trip to Bramall Lane was always going to be a difficult test, but it was the lack of creativity in the final third which raised alarm bells for many supporters.

The Gunners' fans are accustomed to seeing fast, attacking play and while the pace was there against the Blades, the quality was a noticeable miss.

Unai Emery's side struggled to break down the Blades leaving many to wonder whether Mesut Ozil could have been the man to carve open Chris Wilder's side.

Ozil has become something of an outcast at the Emirates Stadium after falling out of favour under Emery, meaning that his time in North London looks likely to end sooner rather than later.

The German midfielder was brought to the club by Arsene Wenger with whom he shared a close relationship.

The playmaker was a key player under the Frenchman and you'd have to think that if Wenger was still in charge then Ozil would be a first team regular for the Gunners.

With criticism of Unai Emery's side rife after defeat at Bramall Lane, Ozil shared a timely post on his social media account as he wished a happy birthday to his former boss.

Wenger celebrates his 70th on Tuesday and the midfielder was keen to pass on his wishes to the Arsenal legend.

Arsene Wenger was undoubtedly a popular figure within in the Arsenal dressing room, and Ozil won't be the only member of the Gunners' family to share his birthday wishes.

You just wonder whether Unai Emery would receive the same treatment.
