Mesut Ozil sends message to Arsenal fans after first win in 10 games

Mesut Ozil told Arsenal fans there was "still a lot of work" to do after the Gunners ended their nine-match winless run with a 3-1 win over West Ham .

Ozil played his part in Arsenal's comeback after they had fallen behind to Angelo Ogbonna's header, with goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang earning a long-awaited three points .

While the result piled the pressure on West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini, it was a welcome relief for Arsenal fans, with interim manager Freddie Ljungberg off the mark after overseeing a draw and a defeat in his first two matches in charge.

The victory lifted Arsenal to ninth in the Premier League table - but they are still seven points adrift of the top four after their recent poor run.

Ozil was glad to welcome back the "winning feeling", but warned there was much to do to get Arsenal back towards the top end of the table.

Posting a picture of himself celebrating with Aubameyang, Ozil said on Twitter : "Finally a reason to smile again ... a little bit! That winning feeling is back. How I've missed you!! But of course we all know that there's still a lot of work in front of us."

Ozil looked set for the Arsenal exit earlier this season after struggling for game time under Unai Emery, and has been criticised for a perceived lack of effort.

However, he has played in the Gunners' last six Premier League games and will be hoping to keep his place in the team under any incoming new manager.

Ozil was anonymous in the first half-hour of Monday's win at London Stadium as Arsenal struggled early on.

But an equaliser from Gabriel Martinelli sparked Arsenal and Ozil into life.

Nicolas Pepe cut inside before unleashing a fierce drive past David Martin to put the visitors ahead six minutes after the leveller.

And Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then capped the turnaround as he volleyed in to seal the win for Arsenal.
