Mesut Ozil sends cryptic social media message after being dropped by Arsenal

Mesut Ozil has reiterated his commitment to Arsenal on social media despite being left out of the squad for the trip to Manchester City.

The Gunners were outclassed by Pep Guardiola's side in a 3-0 defeat at the Etihad.

But the German's omission certainly raised some eyebrows and did little to quash the speculation linking him with a move away.

Mikel Arteta claimed Ozil's absence "was tactical" after the defeat.

The new measures introduced to help with safety means clubs can now list nine substitutes rather than seven which made leaving out the playmaker even more surprising.

Ozil has stated his desire to see out his contract at the Emirates.

And he took to Twitter to post a picture of him holding the Arsenal badge with the words "No matter what ... #M10 @Arsenal".

Ozil will soon enter the final year of his lucrative deal at the Emirates and has previously confessed that he doesn't know what the future holds.

He said earlier this year: “I am very pleased with my contract that will continue here this year and the year after.

“I can't tell you what the future will bring, I'm excited about the future, but I don't know what's going to happen.”

While this agent, Dr Erkut Sogut, has labelled the Gunners as the German's "home" and spoken highly of the club's boss.

“I think [Mikel] Arteta is a very good manager and he learned from the best coaches in the world," he said.

"He was on the sidelines with Pep Guardiola for years and I think he knows what he is doing.

“Ozil is more than happy at the Emirates Stadium. He loves the club, he loves the fans and he loves the city.

"This is his seventh year as a Gunner and he loves being a part of the Arsenal community. That is his home.”
