Mesut Ozil's stance on Arsenal future amid interest from DC United

Mesut Ozil is keen to stay at Arsenal despite reports continuing to link him with a move abroad.

The 30-year-old has been the subject of speculation over his future for some time, and with the transfer window still open in a number of countries there is still a possibility he could move on.

DC United have been suggested as a possible destination, with the club allegedly interested in Ozil replacing the outgoing Wayne Rooney, who is moving to Derby in January.

However according to Goal Ozil, who is Arsenal's top earner on £350,000-a-week, is happy to stay in north London, and is in no rush for a move away.

He has been named as one of the Gunners' captains for the new season , along with Nacho Monreal and Granit Xhaka, although manager Unai Emery refused to rule out players continuing to leave the club.

Emery said: “Now we have finished transfer market but for now it is open in other countries and now next 20-25 days will leave some players from us. That is the reason I want to close our squad clearly."

Ozil's agent Dr. Erkut Sogut is due to travel to Washington in order to discuss opening one of the German's coffee outlets at DC United's stadium, and therefore it would be no surprise if there were also talks over the possibility of Ozil moving to the States.

For now, however, Ozil is due to be involved in the squad, and could start Arsenal's first game of the Premier League season against Newcastle United on Sunday.

New faces David Luiz and Dani Ceballos are also likely to play a part, but deadline day signing Kieran Tierney is out of the game and record signing Nicolas Pepe's fitness is being assessed following his late return from the Africa Cup of Nations.
