The midfielder was named in the starting eleven for the first time in over a month for the Carabao Cup thriller against Premier League leaders Liverpool. The two teams exchanges blows in a match that eventually ended in a 5-5 draw.

Arsenal missed out on a place in the quarter finals after a Dani Ceballos saw his penalty saved in the shootout.

Ozil impressed during the match, playing just over an hour, providing one assist and playing a part in at least two more of Arsenal's five goals.

Ahead of the return to Premier League action, Gunners' boss Unai Emery has hinted that Ozil will be back in the match day squad for the first time since September 22nd.

"It is very important to use lots of players because we are playing lots of matches, and it's a challenge for them [Ozil and Gabriel Martinelli] to show how they can help us," he said.

"The performance was positive at Liverpool and I am thinking how they can help us tomorrow."

Ozil himself is clearly excited for the match against Wolves. Posting a picture of himself and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on social media alongside the caption: "Nothing beats the anticipation of a Matchday."
