Mesut Ozil has been backed to recover from his struggles at Arsenal and become a key member of Unai Emery's squad.
Ozil has started just once for Arsenal in the Premier League this season, with the midfielder's only other appearance of the campaign coming in the Carabao Cup.
The 30-year-old has missed four of the last five games this season with many pundits and fans expecting the former German international to depart the club sooner rather than later.
Ozil is still the highest paid player at the Gunners and despite providing a brilliant return in terms of assists since signing from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, his sometimes nonchalant style of play has led to plenty of criticism.
Whilst Ozil has a long way to go before he becomes a regular once again, especially under Emery, former Turkish international Hamit Altintop has backed the playmaker to rediscover his best form.
Speaking to Goal, the former Schalke, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid midfielder offered his verdict on Ozil.
"Mesut is a good guy who has had an unbelievable career," Altintop told Goal. "He is always respectful and serious and that's the base for a good sportsman. He's a young man and he's allowed to make mistakes. That's important.
"His current situation at Arsenal is not good but this is part of life and his career. He worked hard for 10 years for his passion so I think he will come back."
