Mesut Ozil's agent offers transfer update as Arsenal star enters last year of contract

Mesut Ozil will see out the final year of his £350,000-a-week Arsenal contract, according to his agent.

The German World Cup winner, who is out of contract next summer, is among three Gunners stars resisting a pay cut during the pandemic.

The former Real Madrid star has been linked with a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce. But his agent Erkut Sogut told beIN Sport: "Mesut has another years on his contract.

"There will be no change in this regard. Time will tell what happens afterwards Mesut and his family will make a decision. Mesut will be 32 years old and will have a few more years in his career.

"I can't talk about Mesut and Fenerbahce because I have no right to do so for reasons of confidentiality."

Ozil's relationship with the Arsenal fans has been up and down over the years.

On his day, the German is a world-class operator, but too often he has been criticised for below-par performances.

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno is a big fan of the midfielder, however, and heaped praised on his team-mate in a recent interview with Soccer AM.

"I think his passing is very good, it's unbelievable," said Leno. "Of course, in the last time he didn't make too many assists but when you see how many chances he creates, he is maybe playing the one pass before the assist.

"He brings his team-mates into good positions and many people, they don't see this. But when you see him every day in training and also on the pitch, you can feel how important he is and how important his passing is for the team."
