Mesut Ozil's agent drops major transfer hint as Gabriel Martinelli hands Arsenal huge boost

Here is your Arsenal morning digest on Wednesday, January 13.

Bent urges Gunners to 'let go' of duo

Darren Bent has told Arsenal to 'let go' of defensive duo Sokratis and Calum Chambers amid links away from the Emirates Stadium.

Both centre-backs are out of favour under Mikel Arteta and there has been plenty of speculation over their futures with the club.

Sokratis is reportedly a target for Genoa, while Chambers has been linked with a move to West Ham United.

Bent has urged Arsenal to let both players go this month as they look for regular first-team football.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the former Tottenham striker said: "There were times when he was playing well and he was in the team. But him and Sokratis, I would let them go. They are not going to feature. They are still quite centre-back heavy.”

Ozil's agent drops hint

Mesut Ozil's agent believes the player could move from Arsenal to Fenerbahce this month amid mass speculation over his future.

Ozil hasn't played for the Gunners since March of last year and his days in north London now look to be over.

The 32-year-old has admitted in the past that he is a supporter of Fenerbahce, and the 28-time Turkish champions are now reportedly keen on bringing him to the club.

Speaking to BeIn Sport TR the player's agent, Dr. Erkut Sogut, has admitted there is a possibility that the deal could go ahead this month.

Sogut said: "At the moment Mesut is free to talk to any club he likes. English rules dictate that you can talk to any club once you get into the final six months of your contract. We’re doing this at the moment. We’re in this process.

"At the moment Mesut can sign a new contract with whichever club he likes. He’s free and he’s free to do that. We are doing this and of course Arsenal football club knows this."

Martinelli hands Arteta boost

Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has not suffered any significant damage to his ankle, according to a report from The Guardian.

Martinelli was supposed to start the Gunners' FA Cup win over Newcastle United at the weekend, but injured himself in the warm-up.

After recently returning to full fitness from a long-term injury, there was plenty of concern when the Brazilian youngster went down.

However, the report claims that the 19-year-old has not suffered any serious damage to his ankle, handing Arteta a huge injury boost.

It's been reported that the teenager will miss Arsenal's clash with Crystal Palace on Thursday, but could be in contention for next week's meeting with Newcastle.
