Mesut Ozil's agent clarifies decision on playmaker's Arsenal future

Mesut Ozil will not be leaving Arsenal this summer and is determined to see out his contract at the Emirates his agent has revealed.

The German has struggled for game time since the restart which has led to speculation he may finally end his stay in north London.

Ozil has struggled for the past two years having been used sparingly by Unai Emery and now Mikel Arteta despite earning a mammoth £350,000-a-week.

The World Cup winner is one of the most well paid players in the Premier League but has struggled to justify Arsenal's outlay regularly enough.

His salary has made finding a buyer difficult and Ozil's agent expects him to remain at the Emirates for another year.

"I don't think Mesut will leave before the summer of 2021," Erkut Sogut told Fanatik.

"He's got an ongoing contract that hasn't changed. He will stay with Arsenal."

Ozil has not played a single minute since the restart and scored just once all season.

When quizzed Arteta has claimed the German has struggled with a back problem but it remains to be seen whether he would feature in the first team should he stay.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce has been the club most regularly linked with the 31-year-old's services.

Ozil's wife is from Turkey and the player himself as origins in the European country making a move to the SuperLig a favourable one.

"When his deal is up, I estimate there is a ninety percent chance he will leave Arsenal," Sogut added. "Maybe Asia, America, Turkey? Who knows."

Fenerbahce have often been priced out of a move for Ozil and reports suggested that club chief Kemal Danabas was looking to launch a crowdfunding campaign where fans could donate money to help fund the transfer.

İstanbul Başakşehir won their first Turkish title this season and they have also been linked with a switch for Ozil.
