Mesut Ozil reveals if his dramatic new look will stay as Arsenal's prepare for 2019/20 season

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has revealed that he was just one of three Arsenal players to have a new look as consequence of a training ground bet.

The German international shocked everyone by turning up to Arsenal's pre-season camp in Los Angeles with his hair dyed blonde, and has disclosed that the dramatic change was due to losing a training ground crossbar challenge between himself, Alexandre Lacazette, Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac.

As a result of losing the challenge, Ozil and the two other unlucky players were forced to grab the hair dye, although the 30-year-old explained how some have stuck with their new style.

"It was a bet between me Lacazette, Shkodran and Sead Kolasinac it was crossbar challenging so Lacazette was the winner," the midfielder explained.

"We were the losers, me Sead and Mustafi and the bet was to change the hair a different colour so what I did was blonde, Sead green and Mustafi tried something different but in the end of dying he was unhappy and changed the colour of his hair back so that is what happened, that’s it."

Although the new look was originally a temporary look, Ozil has revealed that, while it took some getting used to, the blonde hair could stay for a little bit longer yet.

"They really like it but for me if I am waking up in the morning, it looks different because I had always dark hair but now I really like it so I don’t know if I will keep this hair in London," he said.

"I don’t know but right now I am ok with that."
