Mesut Ozil response and fan reaction to fourth goal sums up Arsenal supporters' Mikel Arteta limbo

Arsenal fans have now seen their side conceded ten goals in their three opening Premier League games without reply, finding themselves at the foot of the table.

While no Arsenal fan rooted in reality would have expected the Gunners to come away with a result from the Etihad, some would have at least expected a combative performance following the toothless losses to Brentford and Chelsea.

But it was more of the same for the unfortunate travelling fans who, to their credit, remained in the ground until their bitter end and applauded the effort for the players at full-time

The fan reaction to the fourth goal was more pertinent, however, with Arsenal supporters sarcastically celebrating City going 4-0 before the hour mark.

When fan anger turns to apathy, you know there is a serious problem that needs fixing. The trust in the process has completely eroded.

To put another nail in Mikel Arteta's proverbial coffin, former Arsenal fan-favourite Mesut Ozil chimed in post-match to reflect that fans' collective mood.

He tweeted "Trust the process" along with a broken heart. While this may be an innocent message of support, it's also likely that it is a thinly-veiled criticism of the club that made him pack his bags as part of a cultural rebuild.

Arsenal fans are left in limbo. How long can we continue to back and support a completely hopeless setup which continues to offer up the same excuses and promises from week-to-week.

On the other hand, is the return of the fan fury of the late-Wenger era going to help the team on the pitch or get the board to move quicker in replacing Arteta or moving in the transfer market?

The rot is so deeply set Arsenal fans truly do not know where to go from here.
