Tottenham fans have endured a miserable week - European Super League controversy, the sacking of Jose Mourinho and a dismal showing in the League Cup final, so the last thing the Spurs faithful needed was being mocked from a former foe.
But that is exactly what they've received, with the taunt being sent from none other than former Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.
Ozil was a divisive character during his seven and a half years at Arsenal, with his time in north London coming to an end in unsavoury fashion having been omitted from Arsenal's 25-man Premier League squad, left to collect his astronomical wages from the substitutes bench.
The ex-German international now plies his trade for Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, though he is yet to really spark his career with the Superlig side into life.
His parting from the Emirates may not have been entirely amicable, but his love for Arsenal, and therefore his hatred of Tottenham, remains clear for all to see.
The mercurial midfielder tweeted: "It remains dusty...#LeagueCupFinal," just to rub further salt into Spurs' wounds.
In just 40 minutes, the tweet had already racked up more than 38 thousand likes, with Ozil boasting more followers on Twitter alone than both Arsenal and Tottenham on their official accounts combined.
Defeat for Tottenham to Man City in the final means they will pass the 14-year mark without a trophy, leaving many fans questioning the decision to part ways with Mourinho, still the only manager to topple Pep Guardiola in a cup final, a week before the pair would meet at Wembley.
Instead, 29-year-old Ryan Mason took charge - failing to get the better of a Manchester City side who were rampant from the off, Aymeric Laporte's 82nd minute header enough to secure Pep a fourth Carabao Cup in a row, along with Manchester City's eighth in their history.
