Mesut Ozil on Arsenal axe: 'I can’t support on the pitch tonight, so will support in front of the TV’

Mesut Ozil’s war of words with Arsenal continued on Thursday evening after he tweeted he was watching the Gunners’ Europa League match against Rapid Vienna on TV because he “can’t support on the pitch”.

Ozil has been left out of Arsenal’s Europa League and Premier League squads this season, meaning he is facing the prospect of no competitive football until January.

The German has since voiced his displeasure at being exiled and he posted a strong statement on Wednesday on Instagram that questioned Arsenal’s loyalty.

The 32-year-old, who has been at Arsenal since 2013, has now continued to make his voice heard and tweeted ahead of the Gunners’ Europa League Group B opener with Rapid Vienna.

Ozil wrote: “When I can’t support on the pitch tonight, I will support in front of the TV in London.

"What are your predictions for the match? I go for a 4-1 away victory. Goalscorers @seadk6, @ElNennY, @LacazetteAlex & Pepe #UEL #YaGunnersYa”
