Ahead of Arsenal's crunch Europa League semi-final second leg tie against Villarreal former Gunners star Mesut Ozil sent a message of support to the club.
Arsenal go into the tie 2-1 down from the first-leg and must win in order to have any hope of qualifying for European football next season.
With the Gunners sitting in ninth spot and 12 points behind Chelsea in fourth place winning the Europa League is the only way to return to the Champions League for the first time in four years.
Europa League or Europa Conference League are still potentially in their grasp via a Premier League finish but it would take a remarkable set of results for this to happen.
Victory over Villarreal and then winning the final against Manchester United or Roma, therefore, seems the only route back into the Europa for Mikel Arteta's team next season.
Ozil offered a message of support to Arsenal on Twitter, however, the German could not help himself but aim a dig at his former Gunners manager Unai Emery in the process.
The 32-year-old appeared to mock the Spaniard's accent in his tweet, starting his message off with "Good ebening, Gunners!
Before adding: "I hope my former teammates will turn this game around tonight - let's go!
This would not be the first time a member of the Arsenal squad from Emery's reign has been accused of disrespecting the manager.
Following the Spaniard's sacking at Arsenal, the Evening Standard reported that jokes about Emery's accent and his English were commonplace at the Gunners.
Ozil left the Gunners in January following Arteta's decision to sideline the World Cup winner and the German is currently on loan at Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Despite the move away from The Emirates Arsenal are still forking out the majority of his £350,000 per-week wages.
According to reports in The Athletic, the Gunners are picking up £315,000 per-week in order for Ozil to play for another team, a total of £7.38million over the six months he is away from the club.
