Mesut Ozil latest, Arsenal receive Tierney boost, Liverpool open talks - European transfer news

The latest football transfer news and rumours from around Europe.

Tierney's agent speaks out

Kieran Tierney’s agent has offered an update on the Celtic star’s future amid links with Arsenal.

Reports in Scotland have suggested that Arsenal made a £15m bid initially which was turned down, before an initial offer of £17.5m was also rejected.

Celtic want a guaranteed £25m deal, according to reports, and here is what Tierney’s agent, Allan Preston, has said.

"It is all down to Celtic, if they get a price that they believe is the correct value for Kieran Tierney he could possibly be on his way," Preston told BBC Sportsound.

"No one has hit that price yet. I know Kieran really well, I had some food with him the other day, he is such an unassuming young man.

"He is wealthy at the moment but he doesn’t possess a watch, he isn’t into material things like this.

"He still hangs about with his pals from when he was a youngster, he sponsors his local pub team where his pals play and he’s not into his designer gear or anything like that.

“As the guys say he loves Celtic, he absolutely loves Celtic. Will there be a time for Kieran Tierney to go?

“I think that there will be, if it’s just now it will be up to the clubs involved."

Pepe 'in talks' with Liverpool amid Arsenal interest

Nicolas Pepe is courting interest from around Europe after impressing for Lille last season, with Liverpool heavily linked with his services.

Lille president Gerard Lopez has since confirmed that Liverpool are in talks to sign Pepe.

“I know there have been discussions with the player but not with us as a club, Liverpool have players in his position, and I read that he could go there if players leave. I am not particularly focused on Liverpool. But it is true that there have been discussions with agents.

“We had two offers before the African Cup of Nations, we’ll see after that, my position was to see if we could not do something before it, we had two proposals before it, I had two clubs.”

Arsenal and Manchester United have also been linked with a move for Pepe.

Ozil 'close' to exit from the Gunners

It has been claimed that Mesut Ozil is on the verge of leaving Arsenal.

Ozil is the club’s top earner and the Gunners would ideally like to part ways with the German.

Turkish journalist Fatih Dogan has now said that Ozil could leave for Fenerbahce.

“Fenerbahce president Ali Koc is working very hard to sign him.

“For his wages and loan fee, the club are trying to find the sponsors. They are working on it.

“I think it’s going very well. Right now, I can say the possibility is 50-51% positive.”
