Mesut Ozil looks set to return to the Arsenal matchday squad for this afternoon's Premier League clash against Bournemouth.
The attacking midfielder missed the goalless draw with Everton last weekend with a foot injury, but former interim head coach Freddie Ljungberg revealed he wouldn't have selected the German regardless.
This was in relation to Ozil's reaction at being substituted against Manchester City.
"For me, I got asked after the game about Mesut. He walked off, took his things (gloves) and kicked them and the fans were not happy and I was asked about it," Ljungberg said.
"I said 'For me, at Arsenal, that's not how we behave, that’s not what we do' and I stand by that.
"Mesut was injured but I would not have picked him for the squad because I want to make a stance that, that's not what I accept from an Arsenal football player.
"That's my decision and that’s what I think."
But will the 31-year-old return to the squad for what is Mikel Arteta's first game as the new Arsenal head coach?
That could very well be the case if Ozil's Instagram stories are anything to go by.
Taking to social media Ozil has done his best to hype up the big game at the Vitality Stadium which would suggest he's set to at least be on the bench.
In addition, the midfielder did similar ahead of the Liverpool game in the Carabao Cup as well as the Premier League meeting with Wolves last month.
Speaking ahead of the game, Arteta did state that it's a clean slate for the players.
"It’s a question for Freddie. I just wanted him to pick the best possible lineup for the game," he said about the Ozil situation. "You’re not going to be judged on what you done in the past, positive or negative.
"We will try to put the most competitive team out, we are to be ready and nullify them as much as possible."
