Ozil, Monreal, Suarez - Arsenal team news and probable XI for Europa League tie vs Valencia

After three straight defeats and a carousel of squad rotation, some of which has proven to be utterly bizarre, Unai Emery heads into the first leg of his Europa League semi-final with Valencia facing a string of selection dilemmas.

Does he return to the three-man defence after his back four was torn through by Leicester City? Does Mesut Ozil return to the side after a bruised foot? Can Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang recover their form?

Certainly there are plenty of dilemmas for Emery against his former side, who are themselves struggling. A 1-0 home defeat against Eibar left Valencia sixth in La Liga with three games to play; like Arsenal their best hope of qualifying for the Champions League appears to be through winning the Europa League.

What the pundits are predicting for Arsenal's Europa League semi-final clash with Valencia

Emery's squad looks like being strengthened from that which travelled to Leicester on Sunday. Mesut Ozil (bruised foot) and Nacho Monreal (right calf) are both expected to have shaken off their injury concerns in time for Valencia's visit whilst one of the few bright spots to come out of the 3-0 defeat at the King Power Stadium was that Arsenal suffered no new injuries.

Monreal's return is likely to coincide with Laurent Koscielny also stepping back into the starting line-up. The club captain had been rested at Leicester but Ainsley Maitland-Niles' sending off forced him to play the second half of the tie.

Petr Cech is set to make his final appearance at the Emirates Stadium but Arsenal will be without Aaron Ramsey and Denis Suarez, the latter of whom will miss the remainder of the season with a groin injury.

Further forward Ozil is expected to be restored to the starting lineup whilst Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi are likely to pay the price for their poor performances against Leicester.

Probable Arsenal XI: Cech; Sokratis, Koscielny, Monreal; Maitland-Niles, Torreira, Xhaka, Kolasinac; Ozil; Lacazette, Aubameyang
