Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil has told Matteo Guendouzi to show he's a "great football player" at Hertha Berlin.
The Frenchman's season-long loan move to the Bundesliga outfit was confirmed on Monday evening and he will be looking to get his career back on track after falling out of favour under manager Mikel Arteta since June.
Having not featured in a matchday squad for the Gunners since the incident with Neal Maupay at Brighton and Hove Albion last season, the writing has very much been on the wall in regards to the 21-year-old's future.
This move to Germany will provide Guendouzi with the chance to play regularly and perhaps convince Arteta that he deserves another chance ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
It has been confirmed the midfielder will wear the no.8 shirt at his loan club and has broken his silence on what persuaded him to make the move to Hertha.
"The discussions with those responsible convinced me," he told the club's official website "I don't just want to develop personally, but help the whole association to take the next step.
"I feel like Hertha and Berlin! "
One person who is familiar with the Bundesliga side is Ozil and he's delivered his verdict on Guendouzi's exit with a classy message on social media.
"Mi Bebeee, all the best for you in Germany," Ozil wrote on his Instagram stories. "Show them that you're a great football player.
"Will miss you here Bro."
Ozil's message all but confirms he won't be leaving Arsenal this summer.
He too hasn't played a single minute of Premier League or Carabao Cup football so far this season, but could now be integrated back into Arteta's plans if he continues to impress in training.
When asked about the former Germany international's current status, manager Arteta said he's had good talks with the 31-year-old.
"The way we manage the squad, we tell everybody the role we expect from them," Arteta said in his pre-Sheffield United press conference. "The players have really good communication with myself and the club.
"A player that doesn’t play is never happy and I don’t want them to be happy, I want them to change it."
