Mesut Ozil breaks silence as DC United prepare to hold transfer talks with Arsenal man

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has apparently rubbished suggestions he will move to DC United as Wayne Rooney's replacement.

The German midfielder has been linked with a transfer away from the Emirates for most of the summer window.

His representatives are set to fly to Washington to thrash out a potential move to the MLS for Ozil.

The 30-year-old isn't always in Unai Emery's plans - despite being the Gunners' best-paid player - and would receive big wages as Rooney's replacement in America, following his transfer to Championship outfit Derby.

But Ozil appeared to make it clear he'll be an Arsenal player this season with a post to Twitter on Wednesday night.

The post simply showed the midfielder in his Arsenal kit and was accompanied with the caption: "New. Season. Loading."

Arsenal have signed four player so far this summer - club-record £72million signing Nicolas Pepe the best of the bunch.

But the Gunners are still in the market for new recruits following Laurent Koscielny's decision to leave and are looking to land a centre-back and left-back before the window slams shut on Thursday.
