Mesut Ozil's future continues to be a hot topic.
The Arsenal attacking midfielder has found himself on the outside looking in since the Premier League season resumed in mid-June following a three-month break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
All of which has prompted talk that he could be on the move in the summer transfer window.
Turkish website Fotosport claimed last month that the Fenerbahce board are plotting a way to crowdfund a potential move for Ozil.
However, the 31-year-old's agent, Erkut Sogut, has said that the midfielder will make a decision on his future at some point in 2021, but insists he won't be leaving the club this summer.
Should Ozil stay put in north London then he's likely to have a big fight on his hands to work his way back into head coach Mikel Arteta's plans.
Not only has the former Germany international failed to make a single appearance since the season resumed, but he's also not made the matchday squad for wins over Sheffield United, Norwich City and Wolves.
It should be noted that the official line is that Ozil's absence is down to a back problem.
And it would appear that the playmaker is in good spirits despite being left out of the last three squads by Arteta as he's broken his silence with a message on social media.
Well, sort of.
Posting an image onto his Twitter account, Ozil was delighted to have caught up with an old friend.
"Good friends always keep in touch," he posted.
Whether Ozil returns to the Arsenal squad for Tuesday night's clash at home to Leicester City remains to be seen as the Gunners are on a good run of form without him.
Judging by Arteta's comments regarding the German and fellow squad absentee Matteo Guendouzi, the chances of a recall are slim at best.
"It's still the situation as it was before," Arteta said in his pre-match press conference when asked if the aforementioned duo have a chance of featuring against the Foxes.
