Mesut Ozil appears to respond to claims Mikel Arteta has changed his mind about him

Mesut Ozil has seemingly responded to claims Mikel Arteta has had a change of heart.

Ozil has yet to kick a ball for Arsenal this season, but refused to leave the club in the summer and instead vowed to break his way back into the first team.

The German was delivered a blow when Arteta left him out of Arsenal's Europa League squad last week, and there is talk Ozil may also be ousted from his 25-man team for the Premier League.

But Arteta seemingly softened his stance in the press recently, and Ozil has since responded with a message on social media.

Alongside an image of himself in his Arsenal shirt, Ozil wrote: "Sabr (Arabic for 'perseverance' or 'persistence'.) After patience beautiful things await."

While Arteta is yet to make a final decision on Ozil, the German's post could be interpreted as a positive breakthrough; one that suggests the midfielder's perseverance has paid dividends.

Much has been made of Arteta's decision to freeze out Ozil, given he is Arsenal's best-paid player on a huge £350,000-a-week.

As aforementioned, the Spaniard recently spoke out about the 32-year-old, and purposefully left his future open-ended.

Arteta said: "[Ozil and Sokratis] have to respect that decision, try to train the best possible way, help the team as best they can and see what happens."
