Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac's terrified wives were in car as star fought knife attackers

Arsenal star Sead Kolasinac bravely fought off an armed masked moped gang to protect the football stars’ terrified wives inside the car.

He was hailed a “hero” for his actions by restaurant owner Yasmin Tahsimer as dramatic new details emerged.

She told how Kolasinac called her as Ozil tried to escape from the gang with their terrified wives inside.

She said: “He called me while they were being chased and said ‘come out, call the police please’.

"When they were chasing Ozil’s car they were throwing big bricks at it and using a Long metal pole. They damaged the car. The wives were inside and were frightened and scared.

"We didn’t at first of all understand what was happening, then we saw the motorbike passing and realised it was serious.

"They has been chased for about 5/10mins around Golders Green and Hampstead. It was frightening. They were throwing bricks at the car and had. A big metal pole.

"It happened outside Sead’s house. He tried to defend himself. It was scary."

"Incredibly, despite what the players went through, Yasmin said they were very calm explaining: “They weren’t shaken. They were fine. Sead is a hero."

Footage emerged on Thursday showing Kolasinac leaping out of Ozil's car to challenge the thugs as the German international drove off.

Bosnian Kolasinac first confronted a man wielding a knife before chasing off another of the moped gang wearing a helmet.

Kolasniac has since taken to social media to confirm both he and Ozil are OK.

He wrote: “Think we’re fine.”

The post was accompanied by a picture of Kolasinac and Ozil smiling on their recent trip to the US for Arsenal ’s pre-season tour.

Further footage obtained by Mirror.co.uk on Friday shows the dramatic chase moments after brave Kolasinac fought off two thugs in the suspected carjacking.

CCTV shows the gang seconds after they overtook Ozil - perhaps in a bid to force them to stop.

One eyewitness said the masked moped muggers tried to throw roof tiles at his £100,000 G-Wagon.

The moped can be seen at 4.58pm, and moments later Ozil's car passes.

In 2016, then West Ham striker Andy Carroll was threatened at gunpoint on his way home from training.

Police, who had received reports of an attempted robbery, went to Platts Lane, in north west London, shortly before 5pm, according to Scotland Yard.

A spokesman said: "It was reported that suspects on motorbikes had attempted to rob a man who was driving a car.

"The driver, along with his passenger, managed to get away unharmed and travelled to a restaurant in Golders Green, where they were spoken to by officers."

The spokesman said there have been no arrests and officers are still investigating the incident.
