British conductor Bramwell Tovey leads the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and international soloists in the orchestra’s traditional Christmas performance of Handel’s Messiah.
The piece is a masterpiece of the Western classical music canon. It was composed in 1741, with scriptural text composed by Charles Jennens from the King James Bible, the Psalms and the Book of Common prayer, and features the famous Hallelujah chorus.
