The media are getting the blame for the reverses suffered by the coalition forces in Iraq and the increasingly bitter civil war. According to a compelling argument by John Stauber, pro-war advocates are using journalists as the scapegoat for the crisis in Iraq. As he notes, this is "an ironic turn of events, since the mainstream media's uncritical support for the war helped get us into this mess in the first place". His piece for the Centre for Media and Democracy, a body that exposes public relations spin and propaganda, is a superb read. (Via Center for Media and Democracy)
