Messenger of Fear by Michael Grant - review

Messenger of Fear

I have never previously read any of Michael Grant's books but I have heard that they are quite scary. This novel is a thriller, fantasy and mystery genre themed book. The hardcover of this book is really creepy because there are horrible prints of spiders, clowns and an axe dripped in blood- this made the book more interesting and made me want to read it even more.

What I liked about this book was how it was written – I really felt I was in Mara's head. It was also extremely curious. I really liked the character Messenger of Fear because he conveyed no emotions but at the same time there was something about him which made him human. The world the book is set in also makes me wonder if there is such thing as a Messenger of Fear or other Messengers.

The plot of the book was fantastic and astounding, it was basically two stories in one. However the only thing lacking was that the plot twist was quite obvious and I guessed it straight away.

I do recommend this book because it was an interesting quick read and I had to keep a dictionary with me whilst reading it because there was some words which I didn't know- so this novel is also a vocabulary builder.
