Shares in Aim-listed Messaging International are still up more than 100% despite the company trying to pour cold water on talk of an imminent deal with Apple. Its trading update this afternoon does not mention Apple specifically but a spokeswoman tells us there is no truth in the rumours.
The talk on internet message boards had sent its shares up more than 150% in morning trading. Messaging International, whose services allow pictures, music and text to be sent from PCs to mobile phones, responded with a trading update this afternoon.
It says:
"The company continues to strengthen current partnerships and customer relationships and forge new alliances with mobile operators."
But asked about the a partnership with Apple specifically, as rumoured this morning, a spokeswoman said: "The rumour is completely unfounded."
Messaging International, which has contracts with major mobile operators in North America and Easten Europe and also runs a service allowing people to send texts to landlines, said in the update that it continues to trade in line with management expectations.
It shares are up 0.6p, or 120%, at 1.1p.
