Free messaging app Line plans to throw its hat into the online diagnosys ring via mobile devices as early as this summer.
As demand for online medical care has increased in the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak, Line's foray into this type of service is likely to spread in Japan, thanks to the app having more than 80 million users nationwide.
Line Corp., the application's operator, plans to announce its entry into the market by the end of this month.
Online medical examinations through Line are conducted by doctors utilizing the in-app video-calling function.
The company is also planning to build a system that allows appointment making, diagnosys and payment all in one go through the app. Its Line Pay payment service is being considered as a method of payment.
Roughly 2,000 doctors nationwide are expected to use the system and there are also hopes for the introduction of an online pharmacist advisory on the proper use of medication.
Line will later decide on service fees.
