Messages of support to family of woman, 60, who died after being hit by car

Messages of support have flooded in for the family of a woman who died after being hit by a car.

The 60-year-old woman was involved in a crash on Brownlow Hill in the city centre, at around 2.55pm on Sunday, January 30.

Emergency services attended the scene after the crash involving a red Vauxhall and the pedestrian.

The woman was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but died of her injuries on Tuesday, February 1.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

ECHO readers have paid tribute to the woman and sent condolences to her family.

Writing on the ECHO's Facebook page, Elaine Lesley Ball said: "What awful news, RIP, thinking of this lady’s family at this difficult time.

Natalie Morris added: "So sad, heart goes out to her and her family."

Sandra Devereux also said: "So sad condolences to the family."

Elaine Monaghan said: "So sad deepest sympathy to her loving family."

People also said how the news was "heartbreaking" and "tragic."

A 31-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man, both from Liverpool, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

They were questioned by police and have since been released under investigation.

Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing in the area.
