Messages of support to families of two elderly women hit by car and killed

People have left messages of support to the families of two elderly women who were hit by a car and killed.

Emergency services were called to Lulworth Road at around 4.35pm on Tuesday, November 30 following reports of a crash.

Once at the scene officers found two elderly women, aged in their 70s and 80s had been hit by a white Audi A3 on the road.

The women were rushed to hospital by ambulance but died a short while later. Their next of kin have been informed.

The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.

Now, ECHO readers have paid tribute to the two women.

Barrie Minerro said: "Such tragedies thoughts with the families."

Dawn Michelle added: "The poor ladies and their families trying to come to terms with such an awful and tragic thing to happen. RIP Ladies."

Many people commented with a simple heart or prayer emoji as they shared their condolences to the families of the women.

Following the incident, road closures were in place on Lulworth Road

Road closures were in place on Lulworth Road as police carried out enquiries and anyone with any information is urged to contact police.

Sergeant Mat Shaw said: “An investigation has been launched into this tragic incident and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision.

“Similarly, if you were driving in the Lulworth Road area at the time and have any dashcam footage, please review it and get in touch if you see anything. Information you hold could be vital our enquiries.”
