It's no secret times are hard for the restaurant industry and we've already seen a raft of high-profile closures this year.
But there's also plenty to celebrate in Bristol with a number of exciting new openings to look forward to on the horizon.
This week brings bad news, however, as a neighbourhood tapas restaurant has announced it is closing next week.
Mesa, which reviewer Mark Taylor labelled "one of the most consistently impressive places in the city" has built up a loyal following in Westbury Park for its good quality food, personable service and wine selection and was named in our round-up of Bristol's best tapas restaurants last year.
The menu at Mesa includes the likes of Adobo marinated chicken thigh, sweet peppers, roast chilli and coriander (£6.50); smoked sardine fillets and sweet peppers on toast (£5.50) and a tapas tasting menu for £25 per person.

But it will close for good after service on May 11, with the restaurant making the announcement on its social media pages.
The announcement has been met with plenty of well-wishers and dismay from fans of the restaurant.
A number of people have said they are "so sad" to hear the news while one person wrote on Facebook "such an amazing place. Please don't go!"
It is not known why Mesa is closing. Bristol Live approached the restaurant but the manager did not want to comment.
