While the aesthetics business is soaring globally, Thailand has seen rapid growth in beauty innovations and technologies as well. According to Merz Aesthetics Thailand, more women and men tend to take more care of themselves aesthetically, both internationally and domestically.
“The stable growth of our business is a result of hard work by everyone in the organisation and continuous support from our partners,” said Kittiwan Rattanachandr, General Manager of Merz Aesthetics Thailand and Indochina
In acknowledging their dedication, we organised a thank you party – ‘Merz Aesthetics Starry Night, I Dream for Your Successful Journey’ –on 25 January 2019, to express our gratitude and announce the honorary awards to our key partners.

Every award fills us with pride and testifies to the fact that, together with our partners, we continue to support inspiration, confidence, and happiness among the Thai people.
Launched in March 2015, Merz Aesthetics Thailand is one of the 70 subsidiaries of Merz Pharmaceuticals Germany with over 3,000 employees worldwide. Merz’s main job is to develop beauty technologies for the company to become the world’s leading organisation for beauty technologies Thai people can trust.
The parent company, Merz Pharmaceuticals Germany, was established as a privately-owned company selling medicines.
It was a generation to generation business operations,” explained Kittiwan Rattanachandr. “The 3rd and 4th generation of global management board wanted to focus more in one specific area, so from 2015 onwards, they turned from selling general medicines to medicine specifically for beauty products. At that time, Merz only had one beauty product but it was determined to make its mark in the aesthetics business. To this end, the owners duly focused on product innovation based on research and development within the German company.
‘Live better, Feel better and Look better’ became the company’s catch-phrase, pushing Merz to relentlessly drive for the development of beauty technologies and innovations for its products.
Today, the company sells three significant products in Thailand: Ultherapy, German Botulinum Toxin and Swiss Filler. All three products can be used by both women and men. The company’s Ultherapy is Merz’s the only FDA-cleared non-invasive lift and tighten the face-skin naturally without surgery. Its Ultherapy machine has the visualisation capability that allows physicians to see layers of each patient’s skin. Merz Ultherapy has the precision to ensure that the treatment is delivered to the desired layer of the patient’s skin.

Besides being specialised in aesthetics innovations, Merz is distinguished from its competitors by its business strategy.
Our growth and success derives from our differentiation from our competitors,” added Kittiwan Rattanachandr. “We focus more on physician and consumers, even we do not sell our products directly to our consumers but we do educate them about safe and appropriate products.

Merz Aesthetics Thailand has been operating for four years, earning positive feedback from its consumers and partner clinics alike. The company’s business model is B2B2C whereby it sells products to professional physicians at over 500 partner’s clinics and the physicians deliver the treatment to patients in super-premium and premium segments of the market.
Additionally, in 2018, Merz Aesthetics Thailand staged a major campaign – “Merz Aesthetics Serendipity Journey of Successful Women” – in collaboration with Patinya, launching an exclusive clothes collection embraced by successful women all over the country. The campaign sparked a trend in society whereby people started to seek out their own paths to happiness. It has also become part of the social movement empowering women in Thai society.
As for plan for 2019, Merz Aesthetics Thailand is determined to drive the country’s beauty market while growing its revenues to 600 million baht. In achieving this, the company will remain focused on beauty technologies and innovations that give its customers confidence. The company will imported technologies that cater to its customers’ needs, whether medical equipment for the body or medical supplies for the face skin.
Merz Aesthetics also plans to extend its business to the CLMV (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam) countries as part of the business solutions it implements with its partners. The planned business expansion is also in accord with emerging aesthetics industry trends and soaring medical tourism.

Based on our experience, confidence, and clear-cut strategies derived from our business exploits in various countries, this year we will enter Vietnam. It has a very large population which also gives it a large beauty market with high demand, according to our research,” concluded the General Manager. “We can use our successful Thailand strategies to create a similar set-up for Vietnam.
