What's in a name?
If you're Meryl Streep, it's the chance to make some cold hard cash.
The legendary actress filed an application to trademark "Meryl Streep" last week, according to documents obtained by the Daily News.
The trademark would give Streep, 68, the exclusive rights to use her name for entertainment services, which include personal appearances, autograph signings and "live, televised, and movie appearances."
The U.S. trademark application says Streep's name was first associated with entertainment as far back as 1975, the year in which she received her MFA from Yale and was cast in a New York production of "Trelawny of the Wells" at the Public Theater opposite Mandy Patinkin and John Lithgow.
Audiences should get used to hearing Streep's name a lot in the coming months.
Streep recently announced she would be joining Season 2 of the hit HBO drama "Big Little Lies," and is set to appear in "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" in July.
