Merseyside village loses another much-loved restaurant due to 'incredibly difficult' lockdown rules

Yet another restaurant has temporarily closed in Crosby Village due to the current "difficult" local lockdown rules.

The closure of The Fat Italian follows announcement from nearby businesses such as Rocksalt, So Salsa and The Treehouse which all confirmed they were shutting their doors last Saturday.

All closures are not permanent and are believed to be only whilst the current restrictions are in place.

In its post The Fat Italian described current trading conditions as "difficult" and thanked customers for their support.

Its post read: "Due to the increasingly difficult trading conditions & the safety of our team and customers, we have taken the decision to close our doors in Crosby until further notice.

"We would like to thank you all for your continued support through these difficult times. Stay safe."

The Fat Italian's restaurants in Ormskirk or Burscough are not affected by the closure.

Since sharing the post, the team have received messages of support from fans.

Oncer user commented: "This isn't fair! Its a lovely establishment, and their food and service are spot on! We will miss you, hopefully it won't be for long xx"

Another said: "Just got the voicemail to say our table is cancelled. Gutted for you. Hope its not too long before you reopen again x"

And, a third said: "Awful times for all the hospitality business’s, just hope it bouncers back after all this!!really hope to see you back soon and good luck xx"

Mojoes Lifestyle Bar based on Cooks Road in Crosby also announced it was closing for a few weeks in a Facebook post last night. Its team has assured customers it will be back open once they can welcome them back safely.

Current lockdown rules mean all pubs, bars and restaurants must shut at 10pm and all customers must wear face masks when not seated at their tables.

However, new details have emerged overnight about a plan to shut pubs and restaurants across our region and other northern areas.

A new three-tier system of measures may also be introduced, with the Liverpool City Region's current infection rates potentially securing its place in the top-tier of measures.

An announcement is expected in the coming days, with measures likely to come into place next week.
