Tranmere Rovers have become the latest Merseyside team to pledge their support for the Hillsborough Law Now campaign to call for important change in the legal system.
The movement, set up by the Hillsborough families and survivors of the tragedy, aims to ensure truth and justice during future investigations into major incidents and prevent anyone facing the same struggles that those close to the 97 have experienced.
Launched at an event hosted by the Liverpool City Region Mayor (Steve Rotherham) and the Greater Manchester Mayor (Andy Burnham) earlier this month, this came on the back of the series aired by ITV which depicted the tireless efforts of Anne Williams to unearth the truth.
Commenting on Tranmere's decision to unite with Everton and Liverpool, Rovers chairman Mark Palios said: “This is not 'virtue signalling'. This is part of the very essence of a mature democracy and a real need as demonstrated by the tortuous process that followed Hillsborough.”
Three of the other latest teams to stand in solitary with the Hillsborough victims are Chester FC of the National League North, Lincoln City of League One and Welsh Premier League outfit Connah's Quay, meanwhile Premier League duo Brighton and Brentford have also backed the campaign.
