While other town centres seem to be suffering, there’s one in Merseyside that won’t give up without a fight and that’s Prescot.
Once considered one of the most neglected towns in the region, Prescot is now on the up, as regeneration work brings new businesses into the area.
Leader of Knowsley Council , Councillor Graham Morgan has said a mixture of new openings and the news of Shakespeare North Playhouse have meant that Prescot is going from strength to strength.
The ECHO visited Prescot to speak to restaurant owner Gary Usher and Councillor Graham Morgan about the regeneration work.

The town centre also won a competition this year for £10,000 worth of new Christmas lights.
Before Pinion opened in Prescot town centre last year, the area hadn’t had a brand new restaurant for over 30 years.
But the news of Shakespeare North Theatre and the regeneration work by Knowsley Council attracted chef and restaurant owner Gary Usher to the area.
Expected to be completed in 2021, the theatre and education space is estimated to attract more than 100,000 new visitors to the Liverpool City Region each year, from across the UK and around the globe.
