Merseyside is set to be hit by torrential rain tonight and tomorrow with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning.
The Met Office have issued a warning for rain which comes into force at midnight tonight and lasts until midnight tomorrow.
But the rain is due to start in Liverpool later this evening, around 8pm and continue for 16 hours straight.
People have been warned by the Met Office that flooding is "likely" and they have been urged to prepare.
The yellow weather warning said: "Heavy rainfall will likely lead to some minor transport disruption and flooding.
" Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely.
"Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer.
"Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer."
The weather forecast for the North West said: "This evening, a spell of heavy rain is expected to spread in from the south-west.
"Through the night, the rain will become lighter and patchier. A freshening south-easterly wind.
"Tomorrow, rain at first in the morning but this will move away later to allow some sunny spells to develop.
"Rain will return towards the end of the day. Milder in moderate south-westerly winds."

The weekend is set to see drier conditions return, but it will be cold and there is the potential for some snow on Sunday.
The forecast for the weekend said: "Friday will be rather windy with outbreaks of rain at first, but it should turn drier later.
"On Saturday a low-pressure system will bring outbreaks of rain, that could turn to snow over the hills, although the afternoon will be drier. Some uncertainty in this, however.
"Sunday will turn cloudy through the day, with rain moving in overnight that could turn to snow over the hills."
